The Science Behind the Acai Berry
Taking a look at the science behind the acai berry it is truly amazing how many benefits come neatly packed inside these unique berries. In fact, the acai berry has so many similarities to so many foods, a solid diet of acai berries would eliminate a substantial amount of the foods you eat on a regular basis. For example, the amount of protein in a whole egg is the same found in acai berries. The acai berry also has about 16 known antioxidants identified. Furthermore, the ORAC score proves that the acai berry is supreme in the world of antioxidants, being the highest of all edible fruit on earth (ten times the amount of antioxidants found in grapes).
Another key ingredients contained in the acai berry, are the omega fatty acids comparable to amounts found in olive oil, which is considered a great source for these. Another great quality about the acai berry, is the extremely high number of anthocyanins the berries have, which is about 30 times more than red wine. Anthocyanins help with inflammation of the joints, so someone experiencing joint problems would benefit greatly from acai berries. The acai berry also happens to contain a large quantity of vitamin C, E, and a large load of fiber, which are beneficial to everyone's health.
History and Research
Because the acai berry isn't native to the United States, it is not FDA approved. Many of the packaging plants where the berries are bottled, however, are. Mainly to ensure safety of the product versus having the acai berry actually being "approved." Keep in mind, that in Brazil where the acai berry originates, it is approved and the average Brazilian citizen consumes around 2 servings of acai berry everyday in one form or another. Because of the Amazonian environment where the acai berries grow, it would be impossible to grow them elsewhere, like the US for example. The harsh environment natural for the acai berry to grow hosts conditions that make elevated levels of antioxidants and nutrients possible, and unfortunately, no other worldly climate would provide the right environment to create such a unique berry.
Acai Berry's Nutritional Facts
